Yellow-eyed Penguin Catches Lunch

March 30, 2017

https://vimeo.com/154678377

Our old friend the yellow-eyed penguin, or Tawaki, is back and this time we can see her pursue and finally capture an opalfish. Amazing science can be now done about the way these animals eat.

Again, here is the link to the Tawaki Project, whose aim is to protect and study the Fiordland penguin.

If this is making you hungry, consider getting some shrimp for grilling, shipped cold and with the convenience of online shopping.

GoPro on Penguin’s head

February 6, 2017

Check out this awesome perspective where you can see the perspective of a camera attached to the head of a yellow-eyed penguin. See it enter the shore and decide for a moment whether to chase a jellyfish. (FWIW, the camera isn’t actually a Go Pro brand waterproof camera).  You can learn more about the Tawaki Project, whose aim is to protect and study the Fiordland penguin.
